Jharkhand, India's 28th State came into
existence on 15th November 2000. The state came into being with a commitment to
an all round development and prosperity of its people in general and scheduled
tribes and scheduled caste in particular.
Agriculture is the main stay for 80% of rural population of the
state. Agriculture is their employment and primary income generating activity.
The cultivable land resource of the state has good potential for higher
production. For all round agriculture development, technology must be
supplemented by institutional mechanism to ensure the provision of all the
essential facilities and services that the farmers need to improve agronomic
practices and obtain higher yields.
In Jharkhand state most of the farmers are not aware about the
latest agricultural equipment and thus there is a need of training and
demonstration of improved equipments for socio-economic development of rural
farmers in Jharkhand. Also the farmers are not aware about the quality of
agricultural equipment the Government of India, Ministry of Agriculture &
co-operation, New Delhi pleased to sanction 22 centre in the country for training
& testing of farm implements to be developed under the budgetary provision
of RKVY. Out of 22 centre in the country one centre was allowed to run under
the supervision of Birsa Agriculture university Ranchi but centre could not be
started in time so on the request of Government of Jharkhand Dept. of
Agriculture & Sugarcane Development, the Government of India, Ministry Of
Agriculture & Co-Operation, M & T Division, New Delhi pleased to
sanction such a another centre to be run under the supervision of Dept. of
Agriculture & Sugarcane Development (Directorate of soil conservation) vide
Notification no. - 8-1/2004
(M&T), dated 03-10-2011.
On the basis of above sanction order of Government of India,
Ministry Of Agriculture & Co-Operation, M & T Division, New Delhi the
Govt. of Jharkhand. Dept. of Agriculture & Sugarcane Development,
authorized to run this centre named as “Jharkhand Agricultural Machinery
Testing and Training Centre (JAMTTC),”
under the supervision of directorate of Soil Conservation Jharkhand, Ranchi situated at ETC Campus,
Hehal, Ranchi vide resolution number – 3563 dated - 09.11.2011 however
JAMTTC start functioning since 21st
September, 2012. Under the prescribed guideline the work plan for this centre
was approved for 2011-12 to 2015-16 with an approval of 6 contractual post e.g.
Test Engineer, Supervisor, Technician, Junior Programmer and 2 Skilled Labour
headed by Assistant Director (Survey) Soil Conservation.
Mainly the source of fund to run this centre was from RKVY but from
2014-15 changing the guideline of RKVY the fund could not be provided to this
centre hence govt. of Jharkhand dept. of agriculture and sugarcane development
decided to run this centre under society registration act as an autonomous body
providing grant in aid from state budget 2015-16.
Now JAMTTC has been registered under the society registration act
21, 1860 with registration no. 666/2014-15 with main objective is testing of
agricultural implements and training about use of farm implements.
Even
after all the primary & secondary effort like tillage, harrowing, sowing,
plant protection measures the farmers could not get good yield & price in
absence of post harvest management technique, hence a training module for “Post Harvests Technology &
Management” has been also kept .
